Tyre wear and pressure affect your vehicle performance and safety, here`s how to make sure you`re ready to hit the road.
Tyre wear and dept
Tyre wear affect vehicle performance and safety. Low tread results in poor grip and increased stopping distances. Make sure you regularly check the tread dept of your tyres and replace them when they are worn. You can check the tread dept by using a dept gauge. In the Uk, the legal minimum tread dept is 1.6mm across the central 3/4 of the tyres tread area around the entire circumference of the tyre.
Keeping your tyres at optimum pressure reduces the risk of loss of control and protects from premature wear and damage. Tyre pressure can drop due to small perforations, the natural escape of air to a decrease in ambient temperatures. You`ll find the recommended tyre pressure for your vehicle in thr user manual, on a door/doorframe label or on the inside of your fuel flap.
